Region II EMS Inc. is a private, not-for-profit 501 (c) 3 corporation.  Our Vision is for an efficient, collaborative, and effective emergency health services system in southwestern New Mexico that reduces morbidity and mortality.

Our Mission is to provide resources throughout our Region and its greater communities.  These resources will contribute to the maintenance, implementation and development of a comprehensive emergency health services system through the support of practitioners, organizations, local and regional systems, and state and federal programs.  Our primary program areas include:

  • Emergency Medical Services - the development and support of EMS providers throughout the region, including emergency medical dispatchers, emergency medical technicians, paramedics, nurses, physicians, dispatch centers, first response agencies, ambulance services, and hospitals.  This includes the support of local and regional committees that provide for system performance improvement and coordination.  In addition, Region II serves to facilitate involvement in an EMS Registry and the delivery of licensing exam opportunities for EMTs.

  • Trauma Systems - the development and support of a system of care for patients affected by traumatic injuries.  This includes support of hospitals participating in the New Mexico Trauma Registry as well as those wishing to develop into Designated Trauma Centers.  In addition, our staff is integrally involved in the Far West Texas - Southern New Mexico Region Advisory Council on Trauma.

  • Health Emergency Preparedness - the participation in and support of integrated emergency operations plans that include Health and Medical annexes.  This includes participation in Local Emergency Planning Committees throughout the region, as well as direct development and evaluation of plans.

  • Education and Training - the coordination and delivery of health education and training for health care professionals and lay persons.  This includes the delivery of an annual conference which provides continuing education and communication opportunities for health providers throughout the state and nation.  In addition, Region II is a Certified Training Center recognized by the American Heart Association for the delivery of basic CPR training and advanced cardiac and pediatric life support courses.

We see our stakeholders as all those with an interest in our emergency care system.  These range from local, state and federal policy makers, to consumers, to all those who actual provide care to patients on the individual or organizational level.
